Personality: Itahni is a sweet, confident member of our pack. Itahni enjoys sledding and lure coursing but is the slowest of our Australian Laikas. She loves her packmates and is more motivated to run alongside them when competing in sports. Itahni is a cuddle bug and a very gentle soul, who is quite obedient and trustworthy - though she still enjoys making trouble with her sister and has an adventurous spirit. Itahni has inherited a bit of a Samoyed bark and isn’t afraid to use it when excited. Her friendly and outgoing nature makes her an asset to this family.

Accomplishments:

Sledding: Itahni is two races away from achieving her Australian Sleddog Sports Association (ASSA) ‘Sled Dog (SD) title. She is also currently working towards her ASSA Bikejor Dog title.

Itahni has competed in 9 dryland sledding races across WA, one of which was a National Championship race. She has competed in 1 Dog Open, 1 Dog Bike, 2 Dog Bike & 2 Dog Touring.  18.97 kmph is her fastest recorded average speed over one 3.5km heat.

Lure Coursing: Itahni is currently in the Intermediate level of her title progression through the Australian Lure Coursing Association (ALCA), trialing through Lure Coursers Anonymous (LCA) in WA.

Since beginning trialing in 2024, Itahni has competed in 11 competitions, with her highest score so far being 162 points. Itahni tends to lose motivation for the chase when she loses sight of the lure in the tall grass. Towards the end of the 2025 season, Itahni’s enthusiasm for lure coursing picked up considerably, and she was able to work well alongside her mum in a double run but was less was less focused when running with her sister Nylah.

Itahni participated in the 2024 and 2025 Battle of the States (BOTS) 100 metre sprint competitions, with times of 10.10 and 11.15 seconds.

Other:
